Week of 12/8/14 Update
This is the third weekly update written by Max VS. and Nate H. about how Max and Kam's class 2014-2015 is doing!
New Assignments: This week everyone continued to build their tools to make life more fair. Other than that, we started our annual festival of life project, in which we all need to paint and decorate a bottle to display what brings light into our lives, for Hailey HH's design of a 'bottle tree.' This is a project for her unit, as well as the rest of the class.
News: On Friday, we are going on a field trip to Bald Mountain, near Boulder, where we will be experimenting with fire. Here is a map of Bald Mountain:
The Holiday walk is next week Monday. For those of you that don't know what this is, it is a where the AS classes get together then make groups and walk around the 16th Street Mall all day.
We appreciate you reading our weekly class update!

Week of 12/1/14 Update
This is the second weekly update written by Max VS. and Nate H. about how Max and Kam's class 2014-2015 is doing!
New Assignments: This week we had a few new assignments. One of them was the math-science challenge, where we had to create a working tool that makes life more fair. There were many interesting ideas that came out of this assignment. Another assignment was the Kandinsky water colors, which challenged us to create a water color picture with a new style. This style was emotion through colors. On Friday morning we talked about ideas for community service projects in the coming months. Lots of good ideas came up.
News: Thea is now a part of Max's class this year! Everyone is very excited for her to join our class for the rest of the year. Two book groups had their last meetings this week, which were the Lord of the Flies book group and The Hobbit book group. As two of them ended, one of them started: Kindred.

Week of 11/16 Update
This is the first weekly update written by Max VS. and Nate H. about how Max and Kam's class, 2014-2015, is doing.
New Assignments: This week we had a few assignments about Thanksgiving in preparation for the upcoming holiday. We had to "dress a turkey" with a pun to go along with it. We started with a template of a turkey and we had to come up with a funny pun and then dress it accordingly. The weekly math/science challenge was to figure out how much Thanksgiving dinner costs per person (for your family). We had to draw nuts for our specimen this week.
News: We are going on a field trip on Monday the 11-24 to Betasso Preserve near Boulder to investigate pine beetles and dwarf mistletoe in pines. Make sure to pack layers, a lunch, and appropriate snow boots. Kam was sick on Thursday and Friday. Get better soon! Last week we started book groups and they are going well so far. The book groups that are going on right now are The Lord of the Flies and The Hobbit. Next week is a short week and we have Wednesday and Thursday off.
Thank you for reading our first weekly update letter and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!

Week 2 Book Blog (9/9)
Great start to the year everyone! I'm impressed with everything you have started working on. Some of those things include: Creating a blog for the weekly books you read and linking up on this blog, creating and performing scientific experiments testing limits of the human body, researching ideas for your individual units, sketching your first specimen, starting short stories, contributing to your book group discussions, and helping to create a fun, social atmosphere in class and around the school! Nice work! This week, we should be getting our trip packets for our trip to Goblin Valley State Park in Utah!
For you book blog this week, please include:
- Title (italicized), Author, and Genre
- A picture of the title (ask for help if you don't know how to do this)
- Summary of the book (Or what you have read so far if you're reading a two-weeker)
- Personal thoughts on the book
- Content Warnings (if necessary)
- List of the next three books you want to read
- One book you added to your TBR last week and who recommended it (Linda or another blogger)
- Make 5 comments on your classmates' blogs (five new people)

Welcome! First Book Blog Due Tuesday September 2, 2014
Hello Max and Kam's class!
This is the blog where we will "link up" each week to share our reading blogs about the books we are reading. It is our hope that by sharing and reading these blogs, everyone will be exposed to books that will pique their interest, invite them to new reading genres, and create exciting discussion about books (both online and in person). Each week, there will be a new post for reading and once you have written you blog post, link up to it in the comments. Later, we will start sharing some of our writing and potentially other assignments via your blogs. If you have ideas of ways to make this work better for you or the class, please share them.
Here is the assignment for this week (Due by Tuesday September 8th)
How to create a link to your blog in your comment!
1. Copy and paste the line below into the comments section
text
2. Copy the url from the post on your blog and paste it into the "url" part below. Leave the quotation marks.
3. Write what you want the hyperlink to say on the part that says "text". Do not put in quotation marks
4. Post your link and then see if it works.
5. Try again, with assistance, if needed.
